Air Force jet arrives at area in Indian Ocean where objects were sighted
An Australian Air Force jet has arrived over a stretch of the southern Indian Ocean as the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane enters a new phase.
Earlier, it was confirmed satellites had picked up images of two large objects in the area.
The objects, the larger of which is 24m long, are in the southern Indian Ocean some 2,500 miles southwest of Perth.
John Young from the Australia Maritime Safety Authority said higher quality pictures of the debris are expected soon.
"The image is in the vicinty of the search area defined and searched in the past two days," he said.
"Further images are expected after commercial satellites were redirected to take hi-resolution images of the areas of interest. These will be provided in due course."
"I must emphasise these objects may be very difficult to locate, and may not be related (to the missing flight)."
