A bomb blast that ripped through a Shi'ite mosque in southern Pakistan has killed at least 56 people and wounded 40.

A bomb blast that ripped through a Shi'ite mosque in southern Pakistan has killed at least 56 people and wounded 40.

Police say the blast was caused either by a suicide bomber or an explosive device which went off when the mosque was at its fullest during Friday prayers.

A Sunni militant group has claimed responsibility.
