12 arrested over Turkey suicide bombing

Twelve people have been arrested by authorities in Turkey over a suicide bomb attack in which 13 people were injured, the state-run news agency said.

A female attacker blew herself up near an Ottoman-era mosque in the north-western city of Bursa on Wednesday.

There was no claim of responsibility but Turkish media reports said on Thursday that authorities suspect the Islamic State group may be behind the attack.

The Anadolu Agency said police detained 12 people in Bursa, Istanbul and two other cities on Thursday.

Turkey, which is under growing pressure from the conflict in Syria and renewed conflict with Kurdish militants, has recently witnessed an increase of such attacks.

In the past year, more than 200 people across the country have been killed in seven suicide bombings, including Wednesday's.
