Ban Ki-moon 'dismayed' by Iran comments
18/08/2012 - 13:25:09UN leader Ban Ki-moon has said he's "dismayed" by the latest anti-Israel comments from Iran.
The Iranian President has described Israel as a "cancerous tumour" - remarks which have been condemned by United States and France.
As relations between the two powers deteriorate, the Israeli government is reported to be taking steps to prepare its people for a possible war.
New gas mask distribution centres have opened and a nationwide missile alert system has been tested.
Goor Tsalalyachin is a former advisor to two Israeli defence ministers.
Speaking from Tel Aviv he says time is running out for a diplomatic solution.
"We don't see sufficient pressure put on the Iranians. The international community, led by the American and led by the United Kingdom and other western countries, there has been some pressureā¦but it hasn't been efficient.
"The Iranians are still ongoing with nuclear ambitions, still enriching uranium."
