Kildare make one enforced change13/06/2012 - 14:31:42
Andriú MacLochlainn has been drafted into the Kildare defence as the only change for the Lilywhites' Leinster SFC quarter-final against Offaly on Sunday.
MacLochlainn slots in at right corner back as an indirect replacement for the injured Eamonn Callaghan, who is facing a two month lay-off after undergoing groin surgery last week.
Pádraig Fogarty has been unable to force his way into the team despite scoring three points as a second half substitute in the Division 2 final win over Tyrone.
Manager Kieran McGeeney has been able to select key players Ollie Lyons and John Doyle who have both been nursing quad injuries of late.
There is no place in the panel for Seanie Johnston as the Cavan native has been ruled ineligible to play for Kildare this weekend.
Johnston, who has moved from Cavan Gaels to Kildare club St. Kevin's, played in a Kildare league game for St. Kevin's against Kilcock last Sunday night.
But a GAA spokesperson confirmed to RTÉ Sport today that Johnston will only be eligible to play for Kildare until after he has played a club Championship match for St. Kevin's.
The Kildare clubs are currently awaiting the scheduling of the second round of club Championship fixtures, but the games are unlikely to be played soon.
The fixture planning will depend on how McGeeney's men fare in the Leinster and All-Ireland Championships with Johnston having to bide his time.
There was speculation that the GAA's Central Council could give the go-ahead for Johnston to line out for the Lilywhites against Offaly - they are due to hold a meeting this Saturday.
However, the same spokesperson explained to RTÉ that the Johnston transfer will not be on the agenda at the meeting.
