Double award for QPR's Hill

QPR defender Clint Hill today capped an incredible season by clinching both the players’ player and fans’ player of the year awards.

The 33-year-old’s first season in the Premier League started in the worst possible fashion as he was sent off on the opening day of the season in a heavy defeat to Bolton.

Hill was then shipped out on loan to npower Championship outfit Nottingham Forest, but returned to become a driving force as QPR staved off relegation.

“It’s amazing – I’m lost for words to be honest,” he told the club’s official website, www.qpr.co.uk.

“To play a part in keeping this club in the Premier League is all I ever dreamed of – but getting these awards is the icing on the cake.

“I’m very surprised I’ve won both awards to be honest, but I’m absolutely delighted.

“I just give my best in every game – that’s the minimum any professional should do.

“I’m delighted that I’ve been rewarded for my efforts by the fans and my fellow professionals.”

Hill pipped Jamie Mackie to the supporters’ player of the year, while Adel Taarabt received the fans’ young player of the year accolade.
