Conlan and Barnes add to Ireland’s historic Olympic medal tally
10/08/2012 - 21:31:18The youngest member of Team Ireland, Michael Conlan, has added to Ireland’s historic Olympic medal tally tonight.
The 20-year-old from Belfast narrowly missed out on upgrading his medal to silver, in a fiercely fought match against Cuba’s Robeisy Rameirz Carrazana at the ExCel arena.
He now joins fellow Belfast man Paddy Barnes in achieving Olympic bronze at the Games.
John Joe Nevin from Mullingar in Westmeath is through to tomorrow night's final - guaranteeing the 23-year-old at least a silver medal.
Several thousand people packed into the town's Market Square to watch him progress to the last two.
