Dermot O'Leary is expected to host the US version of 'The X Factor'.

The 36-year-old presenter – who currently fronts the reality singing show on ITV1 in the UK – impressed producers at a recent meeting in Los Angeles so much, it’s now likely he'll go to the US with Simon Cowell when he launches the show overseas in 2011.

A friend said: "They really liked him. He doesn't have a strong accent, which helps. Signs are good but the final decision rests with Simon Cowell."

Dermot recently spoke about how keen he is to present a show outside of the UK.

He said: "I've been out here looking at work options and having a few meetings. Nothing's come up yet that would mean moving out here. But I'd love to work Stateside."

TV insiders have also hinted that the UK 'X Factor' judge Cheryl Cole may not be picked for part of the American team because her thick Newcastle accent might confuse viewers.
