Irish govt bond yields down by .75%
29/06/2012 - 15:44:31The interest rate being sought for 10-year Irish government bonds has fallen by almost .75% in the wake of the eurozone deal.
The Central Bank Governor said the deal reached in Brussels overnight was an important step in getting debt ratios back to moderate levels.
Patrick Honohan made the remarks at an Institute of International and European Affairs conference in Dublin this afternoon.
"Until this vicious circle is convincingly broken, and a more sustainable configuration of bond yields is restored, financial market conditions will continue to appear fragile," he said.
"That is why there is increasing recognition that this is not something to be left on the long finger."
