Consumer sentiment picks up04/07/2012 - 16:05:54
Irish consumer sentiment picked up again slightly in June after a small decline in the previous month.
The regular index from KBC Bank and the ESRI now stands at 62.3.
Overall, KBC said the improving trend through the first half of this year reflected signs of stabilisation in the Irish economy.
Chief Economist with the bank Austin Hughes said there were a number of factors behind a slight pick up in the mood of the Irish consumer.
"Some of the fears and uncertainty that troubled them in May have eased a little bit with the passage of the (Fiscal Treaty) referendum," he said.
"Lower oil prices (and) lower interest rates will help their household finances."
