Warrsan entered for Coronation hat-trick

13/04/2005 - 13:04:00
Warrsan, dual winner of the Vodafone Coronation Cup, is one of 33 entries for this year’s renewal at Epsom on June 3.

Clive Brittain’s seven-year-old has won the 12-furlong race for the last two years and should he line up, Warrsan will be bidding to become the first horse to win the race three times.

He could face some tough opposition though, headed by Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe hero Bago, last season’s Irish Derby victor Grey Swallow and the 2004 Horse Of The Year, Ouija Board.

Aidan O’Brien has his usual strong hand of entries including the globetrotting Powerscourt, last year's Oaks second All Too Beautiful, one-time Derby favourite Yeats and Arc fourth Acropolis.

Godolphin have also made a bulk entry headed by Arc runner-up Cherry Mix, Diamond Stakes hero Doyen and Ascot Gold Cup winner Papineau.

Other interesting contenders include Andrew Balding’s Phoenix Reach, winner of the Dubai Sheema Classic last time and the 2003 Italian Derby winner Osorio, who is now with Mark Johnston.
