A heavier punishment has gone to Britain's Heather Watson.
The British number two jammed her racket into the grass during her heartbreaking first-round loss to Germany's Annika Beck and has been ordered to pay US$12,000, tournament organisers said.
Defending women's champion Serena Williams was handed a US$10,000 fine for smashing her racket after losing the first set to Christina McHale on Friday and then throwing it behind her, where it landed on the lap of a cameraman.
