Twigg signs off on the double
As he did on his final home appearance last week, Gary Twigg signed off on the double for Shamrock Rovers as they beat their title successors Sligo Rovers 2-0 at the Showgrounds.
Not that the defeat disappointed the bulk of the bumper home crowd of 6,097 too much as they delighted in the celebrations as Sligo received the championship trophy after the game.
Twigg opened the scoring on ten minutes, scooping home the rebound after his initial effort came back off the crossbar.
Rovers doubled their winning margin 12 minutes into the second half when Twigg punished a poor back pass to fire past Gary Rogers for his 22nd goal of the season.

A goal from Christy Fagan gave FAI Cup finalists St. Patrick's Athletic a 1-0 home win over Cork City to rubber-stamp third place and Europa League qualification.
