The FAI have revealed the Ireland supporters who will accept UEFA's EURO 2016 award

The FAI have named the supporters who will be presented with an award on behalf of the Republic of Ireland fans who charmed everyone during Euro 2016 in France.

Two weeks ago, UEFA announced its intention to honour Irish fans for their 'outstanding contribution' to the European Championships.

Now, the Ireland supporters who will accept a commemorative plaque at next week’s FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Georgia at the Aviva, have been named.

First up are Chloe McGlinchey and her son Michael who were featured on camera in the stadium during the famous win over Italy in Lille.

The FAI said the McGlincheys are regulars at the Aviva and are members of Tullamore Ireland Supporters Club.

Next is one of Ireland’s youngest supporters, Aoife McCann, who was pictured in France with her father Eoin.

The FAI said that the McCann’s have travelled across Europe following the Boys in Green and are active members in Ballybrack Seagulls Ireland Supporters Club.

Aoife will have her sister Emma and her mother, Roisin, on the pitch with her for the presentation on Thursday.

To complete the ceremony there will be four-year-old Cian Prendergast along with his father, Martin.

A video of Cian belting out Amhrán na bhFiann in the Stade de France ahead of Ireland’s EURO 2016 opener against Sweden went viral.

They are both members of London Ireland Supporters Club and regularly travel from the UK to Ireland games.

FAI CEO, John Delaney, said: "I am delighted UEFA have decided to award our supporters with this accolade. The Ireland supporters were an absolute credit to our country at UEFA EURO 2016.

“The colour, atmosphere and support they brought was something we were immensely proud of, and the scenes inside each of the four match venues will live long in the memory.

“The supporters selected to receive the award are perfect ambassadors and I look forward to the presentation ceremony next Thursday at the Aviva Stadium.”

Let's remind ourselves of some of the craic over in France during the summer.
