Tevez happy with City life
Carlos Tevez has found happiness and stability at Manchester City thanks to the relocation of his family and a fresh outlook on life, he has revealed.
A year ago the striker was embroiled in an extraordinary dispute with the club which saw him spend three months in his native Argentina on unauthorised leave.
In total he spent almost six months out of the side but the problem is now well behind him and he is once again a key member of Roberto Mancini’s team.
Tevez played a part in helping City secure the Barclays Premier League title last season and has figured prominently this term.
The 28-year-old, who scored twice in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Aston Villa, said: “I have changed my outlook on life in general.
“A very important factor is the fact I have all my family here in Manchester, which makes me very happy.
“I am not worrying about the things I used to worry about, I am just concentrating on enjoying my time out on the field.
“My concerns, the things I concentrate on at the moment, are training and playing.”
Tevez was speaking at a press conference to preview tomorrow’s Champions League game against Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium.
City have disappointed in the competition once again and must win the Group D match to retain any chance of progressing to the knockout stages.
Even then victory would need to be followed by another at Borussia Dortmund in a fortnight with results elsewhere going in their favour.
“The players are all convinced it is still possible,” Tevez said.
“As long as it is still mathematically possible, why not?
“As long as we go out determined to win the last two games, it is just a case of seeing how the other results turn out.”
Tevez recently went eight games without scoring a goal but his double against Villa took his tally for the campaign to seven.
Although Mancini’s team selections are difficult to predict, it is likely Tevez will have a key role to play against the Spanish giants – even though he is keen to emphasise the collective responsibility.
He said: “It is all about the team working together as a whole.
“I wouldn’t want to put added pressure on myself to think I am going to make the difference.
“It is all about working together and if we really want to take this game forward and grab it by the scruff of the neck, it has got to be a group effort.”
