Strachan makes changes at the back
Manager Gordon Strachan drafted Stephen McManus and Mo Camara into his back four in a bid to solve Celtic’s defensive problems as they attempted to reach the CIS Insurance Cup final.
While they started, Roy Keane and new signing Dion Dublin, potentially a centre-back pairing, began the game on the bench.
Dundee United fought back from 3-1 down to earn a 3-3 draw against Celtic on Saturday, and duly Strachan made changes with McManus replacing the cup-tied Mark Wilson while Camara slotted in at the expense of Ross Wallace.
Terry Butcher’s Motherwell, who were looking for their second successive final appearance, had scored five goals against Celtic this term. Butcher brought back former Rangers goalkeeper Graeme Smith for Colin Meldrum in the only change from the draw with Dunfermline.
