It took a strong second half display by the Belfast outfit to earn a 3-9 to 2-5 win over Bellaghy of Derry at Glenalbyn.

The Antrim men, who had earlier beaten two Donegal sides St. Michael’s and St. Eunan’s in the knockout stages after emerging from their group, were pushed hard by their Derry opponents early on.

Eoghan Brown was in outstanding form for Bellaghy and his goal pushed them into a first half lead, but a crucial Anto Healy major gave the winners a 1-4 to 1-3 interval advantage.

Ger Doherty slotted a penalty to give Bellaghy, who had to overcome Bryansford, Clonoe and Caherlistrane in the knock-out rounds, a two-point advantage, but Conor McGourty converted from the spot at the other end before Colin Brady walked the ball to an empty net to seal the win for St. Gall's.

Meanwhile at St Jude's GAA Club, Templeogue St. John's of Ballywillwill became the first Down club side to claim the Bord Gais Energy All-Ireland Junior Sevens title thanks to a 2-9 to 0-2 victory over the host club, St. Jude's.

The East Down side were goal hungry throughout the tournament, scoring 27 goals on the way to become the first club from Ulster to win this competition since Tyrone club Stewartstown succeeded in 2005.

A goal in either half proved vital in the final for St John's, with twin brothers Conor and Ryan Flanagan each netting a goal.

St. John's greater fitness stood to them in the decider, with 'Laoch an Lae' Damien Murray putting in a tremendous display in the final.

Earlier, St. Jude's had beaten three in-a-row title chasers Achill of Mayo by a point at the quarter-final stage.

Meanwhile, the Shield final was an all-Louth affair with St. Mochta's claiming a 5-8 to 1-11 win over St Fechins in the decider.

St. Mochta's led by 2-4 to 1-4 at the interval, with Paul Marren and Nigel Farrell netting their goals.

Westport of Mayo won the Eirgrid All-Ireland Intermediate Sevens at Ratoath, beating Meath's Oldcastle 6-5 to 4-9 in the final.
