Will Ferrell: I'm responsible for Jose Mourinho sacking

Comedian Will Ferrell believes he may be partially responsible for Jose Mourinho leaving Chelsea in December.

The Anchorman star is a big fan of football and when he found himself at the same awards ceremony as Mourinho in September, he couldn’t resist mentioning him in his speech.

Ferrell used the opportunity to tell the Blues boss what he thought of his style of play.

“Jose Mourinho, keep playing defence man!” he yelled from the stage at the GQ Awards.

“Keep playing seven guys in the box, I love it!”

Now Ferrell, currently promoting Zoolander 2, worries that his comments may have been a factor in Mourinho losing his job.

“I feel horribly guilty because I feel like I had a hand in getting Jose Mourinho fired,” he explained on the American TV show Men in Blazers. “I’m so sorry. I was just trying to make a joke because I really actually admire the guy.”

Hmmm, Ferrell made the remarks in September and Mourinho left Chelsea in December.

Were the two events close enough to be connected?
