Watch: Donald Trump assist in the draw for the League Cup

Long before he became notorious for his views on immigration in his controversy filled US presidential election bid, Donald Trump had already hit the heights of football administration and fame on the Saint and Greavsie show, writes Robert McNamara .

To coincide with tonight's EFL Cup draw we found this wonderful bit of nostalgia on Youtube.

It was December 1991 and popular TV hosts and former players, Jimmy Greaves and Ian St John, had travelled to Trump Tower in New York City in search of someone to pull the away teams out of the bag (it really was an actual bag back then!) for the 1991/92 Rumbelows Cup fifth round.

Watch the absolute relish on Trump's face as he, ably assisted by Football League secretary David Dent, completes some absolutely cracking ties such as; Tottenham Hotspur v Norwich City, Peterborough United v Middlesborough and Leeds United v Manchester United.

After the Leeds/ United clash is confirmed, Greaves tells Trump: "Donald, you don't know what you've done there!"

Trump replies: "That sounds like a game I want to go to."

Trump then goes on to discuss his interest in soccer and is presented with a coveted Saint and Greavsie mug. We wonder if he still has it?
