Van Nistelrooy joins Dutch set-up

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been named as one of The Netherland’s assistant coaches.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been named as one of The Netherland’s assistant coaches.

A tweet from the Dutch football association, the KNVB, announced that Van Nistelrooy, now 38, will work under new coach Guus Hiddink and alongside Danny Blind, who is due to take over from Hiddink in 2018.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker scored 35 goals in a 70-match international career which started in 1998 and finished in 2011.

Former internationals Pierre van Hooijdonk, Aron Winter, Sonny Silooy and Michael Reiziger have also been given various roles with The Netherland’s junior teams.
