Twitter went into meltdown nearly as fast as United last night

Man United fans couldn’t quite believe their eyes as they watched the side taken apart by League One side MK Dons last night.

Unfortunately for them, they weren’t the only ones watching, and boy did the anti-United brigade have fun last night.

Naturally enough a lot of the jokes featured the Red Devils’ record new signing, £60m Angel Di Maria.

The difference between the finances of the two clubs had to get a mention.

It wasn’t long before a certain former manager “appeared”...

.. while some suggested the result might actually be part of a cunning plan by the current manager

United’s humiliation was complete when former sworn enemy Jamie Carragher didn’t even have the heart to jeer them but offered genuine analysis of the result.

But Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko didn’t attempt to hide his delight.

This picture of the bench says everything you need to know about the game

and we think this is the best description of how United fans feel this morning.

For anyone who missed the game - or just wants to enjoy watch it again.
