Details of the transfer fee have not been disclosed, but reports indicate the Turin club have paid an initial £10m, rising to £12m with add-ons.

The Argentina international underwent the first stage of his medical yesterday and is scheduled to complete the examinations later today.

He will be formally unveiled by the club in a press conference at Juventus Stadium, beginning at 10.30am Irish time.

"From now on, Carlos Tevez is a Juventus player," read a statement on juventus.com last night.

"The Argentine striker, who arrived in Turin in the afternoon, has reached an agreement with Juventus to sign a contract of employment until 30 June 2016."

The statement was accompanied by a picture of Tevez holding the number 10 jersey made famous by iconic Juve striker Alessandro Del Piero.

Tevez arrived at Milan's Malpensa airport from a family holiday in South America yesterday afternoon and was mobbed by around 200 Juve fans ahead of his medical at the club's offices in Turin.

Reports in Italy suggest the former Manchester United and West Ham striker's contract with Juventus will earn him £4.7m per season before bonuses.

After his unveiling, Tevez will return to his family holiday. He will be expected back in Turin ahead of Juve's departure for pre-season training in Chatillon on July 12.

Although he has yet to officially start work, new City boss Manuel Pellegrini is known to have authorised the transfer, which could save the Blues up to £27m, including bonuses, from the final year of Tevez's contract.

City released their own statement this morning confirming the news and wishing Tevez well after his four years at the Etihad Stadium, during which time he won the Premier League and FA Cup, in addition to becoming embroiled in a stand-off with former manager Roberto Mancini.

"Everyone at Manchester City wishes Carlos the best of luck in Italy and thanks him for his important contributions," said the statement.
