Sligo Rovers settle for frustrating draw

Sligo Rovers moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier Division table, even though they had to settle for a frustrating 0-0 draw at second-bottom Bray Wanderers.
Newly crowned player-of-the-month Mark Quigley, who'd scored nine times in his previous nine games, almost gave Sligo the lead on the half hour with perhaps the chance of the game. But his brilliant chip was tipped over the bar by Bray keeper Darren Quigley.
It was a good point for Pat Devlin's Bray who edge eight points clear of the relegation play-off spot as bottom side Dundalk were beaten 1-0 at home by Shelbourne.
Winger Paddy Kavanagh got the only goal of the game at Oriel Park six minutes before half-time when his low drive beat Peter Cherrie. Dundalk finished with ten men as striker Mark Griffin was shown a straight red card on 87 minutes for a challenge on Shels defender Brian Shortall.
David McMillan's fourth goal in three games helped UCD maintain their impressive late season revival as they beat Derry City 2-1 at the Brandywell, their fifth win in their last six games.
Midfielder Barry McCabe put College ahead on 37 minutes with McMillan doubling their lead within seconds of the restart. Kevin Deery got a goal back from Derry on 52 minutes when heading home a Marc Brolly cross.
Bohemians and Cork City both kept their hopes of qualifying for the Setanta Sports Cup on track as they played out a 1-1 draw in a game of two halves at Dalymount Park.
Vinny Sullivan headed home a Daryl Horgan cross to give Cork a deserved lead on 15 minutes. Sullivan then headed against a post from another Horgan delivery 12 minutes before the break.
Bohs switched their formation to an attacking 3-5-2 from the resumption and were level on 54 minutes when Evan McMillan, who'd been pushed up front from defence, curled a brilliant 30-yard shot to the top corner of Mark McNulty's net.
Midfielder Keith Ward blotted Bohs' dominant second half display by being sent off in stoppage time for diving.
