Rusk earns Drogs a draw
An equaliser deep in stoppage time from substitute Graham Rusk earned Drogheda United a 2-2 draw against 10-man Sligo Rovers in a dramatic game at the Showgrounds.
Drogheda availed of negligent defending to take a 22nd minute lead. Sligo didn't deal with David Cassidy's free-kick into the area and Declan O'Brien found himself one-on-one with Gary Rogers to slip the ball past the Rovers keeper.
Anthony Elding ended his three-match goal drought to level on 66 minutes when meeting Aaron Greene's cross to head past Gabriel Sava for his 10th league goal of the season.
Within a minute Sligo left-back Ross Gaynor was sent off following an off the ball incident after some Drogheda fans had encroached onto the pitch.
The ten men then appeared to have won it right on 90 minutes when Greene scrambled the ball over the line after Alan Keane scuffed a shot following a good run and cross by Kieran Djilali.
But with referee Anthony Buttimer's watch into the fifth minute of added time at the death, substitute Rusk connected with a cross from the left with the ball beating Rogers to enter the net despite the best efforts of defender Gavin Peers on the line. The draw keep champions Sligo two points clear at the top of the table.
Shelbourne played for over 80 minutes with ten men as they scraped a 0-0 draw against Limerick at Thomond Park, though they remain a point adrift at the foot of the table.
Shels had a shocking start with a straight red card for midfielder Robert Bayly following a clash with Limerick striker Craig Curran after just eight minutes - the fourth red card for Shels this league season.
Despite their numerical advantage, Limerick struggled to create chances before wasting the best opportunity of the game just on the blow of half-time.
A slip by Shels' defender Ian Ryan let Rory Gaffney through on goal to shoot. Keeper Ger Hanley did well to parry the ball away, but only as far as Shane Tracy who somehow contrived to shoot against the bar with the goal gaping.
