Robbo blasts Albion boo boys
Bryan Robson has told the West Brom supporters who booed midfielder Darren Carter during Saturday’s shock defeat by Sunderland “to take a look at themselves”.
Carter came in for criticism from a small band of fans throughout the 90 minutes of Albion’s 1-0 reversal in the same way as Ronnie Wallwork had been targeted earlier in the campaign.
Wallwork bounced back from that abuse with a string of impressive performances and Robson insisted he is happy with the contribution of Carter who moved from Birmingham in a £1.5m (€2.2m) deal in the summer.
The Albion manager said: “It was a small section of fans who booed Darren and a lot of supporters tried to over-ride them by cheering for Darren.
“I said it before when it happened to Ronnie Wallwork, that you support your team. I can’t believe that they would boo their own players.
“That is twice now that a minority of fans have booed good, honest players so they have got to have a look at themselves.
“If you want success within the club, everyone has to pull together.”
Robson added: “Darren Carter’s work-rate has been excellent in the last few games and, like Curtis Davies, he is getting better in terms of being confident and a good talker.
“He is communicating a lot more. He gets angry if we lose because he doesn’t want to get beat and we saw that at Reading as well in the FA Cup last week.
“That’s the sort of character I want these young lads to build. I don’t want them to not be bothered when they get beaten.”
Robson, as expected, is set to complete the loan signing of Artmedia Bratislava midfielder Jan Kozak for the remainder of the campaign after he impressed during an initial trial period with the Baggies.
