Redknapp still keen to recruit

QPR manager Harry Redknapp is hoping to bring in Peter Odemwingie, Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend before the transfer deadline closes tonight.

Christopher Samba arrived from Anzhi for an undisclosed club record fee earlier today, following fellow January signings Loic Remy, Tal Ben Haim and Yun Suk-young into Loftus Road.

Redknapp is hopeful of doing yet more business and is targeting Jenas and Townsend at former club Tottenham.

“I am trying to take the two lads from Tottenham on loan, Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend,” he told London Call-In.

“I managed the pair of them at Tottenham and JJ is a midfield player who can get from box-to-box.

“He is a good player, played for England, good lad and has a good attitude. I think he will be a good player for us.

“And Andros Townsend I think is a kid with a fantastic future. I like Andros an awful lot. He is a strong, quick, brave winger.”

Premier League clubs are only allowed two domestic loans and, given Manchester United’s Fabio is already at the club, QPR would be unable to loan both players.

There are reports Jenas could instead move permanently, while Redknapp wants to sign unsettled West Brom striker Odemwingie after a move for Stoke’s Peter Crouch fell through.

“Peter Odemwingie has pace, great movement,” Redknapp said. “I like him and is a player that has always given us problems when I was at Tottenham.

“I think if we can get Odemwingie he would be a great signing for us, but whether we can pull it off I am not sure.”
