Man held over 'attempted burglary' at Wayne Rooney's mansion

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary at the home of England football captain Wayne Rooney.

The suspect, who is from the Scarborough area, was arrested on Tuesday over the break-in bid at Rooney's Cheshire mansion.

It happened while Rooney played in his testimonial match at Old Trafford last week.

The alarm at the Manchester United star's £6m property in Prestbury was reportedly triggered and police descended to conduct a full search of the area.
