‘Limerick’s going up!’: Players and fans ecstatic as unbeaten Super Blues win First Division

Limerick FC have secured an immediate return to the Airtricity League Premier Division by winning the First Division with six games to spare, writes Stephen Barry.

Limerick were relegated last year despite an incredible run of results which took them into a play-off.

However they continued the momentum of the regular season to go unbeaten in the First Division, winning 20 and drawing two of their games so far.

That means they’ve the title wrapped up with six games left and without losing a single league game in six months of action.

Players and fans alike were delighted to secure the title at the UCD Bowl.

A second-half brace of goals by Paul O’Conor sealed the 3-2 win, and the title, over third-placed UCD.
