Wigan have today received international clearance for left-backs Erik Edman and Maynor Figueroa.
Latics manager Steve Bruce signed the duo last week within the space of 24 hours as the position has been a season-long problem.
Since the summer, winger Kevin Kilbane has plugged the gap left vacant following Leighton Baines’ departure to Everton.
Honduras international Figueroa has joined Wigan on loan until the end of the season from Deportivo Olimpia, the club from whom Bruce also signed midfielder Wilson Palacios this month.
Figueroa’s capture was swiftly followed by that of Sweden’s Edman, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract after moving from French club Rennes.
Both players are available to make their debuts in Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie with Chelsea at the JJB Stadium.
