Lallana may start for Saints

Southampton captain Adam Lallana could make his first start in nearly two months when Mauricio Pochettino’s side face Wigan in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.

The 24-year-old midfielder came on as a substitute in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss at Manchester United after recovering from a knee injury and is in contention to start at the DW Stadium.

New signing Vegard Forren was not involved at Old Trafford but could force himself into the squad, although Jose Fonte and Guly Do Prado (both knee) are likely to miss out.

Provisional squad: K Davis, Gazzaniga, Boruc, Clyne, Richardson, Stephens, Fox, Shaw, Yoshida, Forren, Hooiveld, Ward-Prowse, Cork, Chaplow, Ramirez, Schneiderlin, S Davis, Lallana, Puncheon, Lee, Lambert, Rodriguez.
