Young Celtic supporter Jay Beatty was presented with the Goal of the Month award for January at Celtic Park today.
Jay was brought brought onto the pitch at half-time and given the award by Celtic player Charlie Mulgrew.
Jay, who has Downs Syndrome, is a devoted Celtic fan and friend of the squad, particularly striker Georgios Samaras. He was invited to take penalty at half-time in Celtic’s match against Hamilton in January, which he scored. Hamilton included his goal in their match report and the goal was then nominated for Goal of the Month.
He won the award by a landslide, receiving 97% of the votes.
While he was on the pitch to collect the award, Jay took the opportunity to score once more, in front of the cheering Celtic supporters.
The young soccer fan also bumped into Ireland’s assistant manager Roy Keane, who was at today’s match.
