A Premier league player made such a mess of a penalty last night he publicly apologised for it.
Hull City faced Slovakian side Trencin in the Europa league, in their first ever match in European football.
The game was goalless in the second half when Irish international Shane Long won a penalty for the Tigers.
Tom Huddlestone stepped up to convert but his tame shot was easily saved..
He had a golden chance to immediately recover when the keeper knocked it straight back to him, but the striker instead fluffed it completely and ballooned the ball high into the stands.
The miss was so bad the player took to Twitter to apologise.
Can only apologise to every for a lapse in concentration and thinking I had scored the rebound before I had. Ridiculous on my behalf

The game ended in a scoreless draw and Hull play them again next week in the return leg.
Given Huddlestone famously went two and a half years without scoring a goal - fans probably shouldn’t be expecting him to redeem himself too quickly.
