FAI Chief John Delaney says he suspects that Sepp Blatter will be re-elected as President of FIFA.
It comes after Delaney confirmed that David Gill will resign from FIFA’s executive committee if Blatter is re-elected as president.
He is standing for re-election tomorrow in a vote which is going ahead despite the arrest of a number of his top officials on charges of bribery and fraud.
UEFA - which governs European football - is urging that all of its 53 members vote together as a block for the opposing candidate Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein.
However, despite him also having support from outside of Europe Delaney believes it will not go his way.
He said: "There is a belief from Prince Ali that he has 60 votes outside of Europe against Blatter, that's what was said at the meeting.
"Everybody was being urged today to vote for Prince Ali. We would love Blatter to lose, but my head says that Blatter will win."
Gill, the Football Association vice-chairman, told UEFA member associations in Zurich he will not take up the place if Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein loses the election in Zurich.
Delaney said: “David Gill stood up and said he won’t take up his seat, that was the big thing. I think it was very brave and very honest of him and there was a good round of applause, people thought ’that’s a man of honour’.
“From his own personal perspective he doesn’t want to serve under Blatter and you have to respect that position.
“There wasn’t a vote taken but Michel Platini will tell you UEFA is unified, whether all 53 transfer their votes over I don’t know, I think one or two will be lost along the way.”
Delaney said UEFA president Michel Platini had spoken privately with Blatter on Thursday morning and urged him to quit, but Blatter refused.
