Champions League wrap: Andre Schurrle holds Zidane’s Madrid to a draw

Leicester City continued their dream start to their maiden Champions League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Porto at the King Power Stadium while Tottenham bounced back from their Wembley defeat to claim a vital win at CSKA Moscow.

The Foxes responded to last weekend's 4-1 defeat at Manchester United with a clinical display as Riyad Mahrez's cross met the head of summer signing Islam Slimani who gave the Premier League champions their second win of the competition.

Slimani's goal was his sixth of 2016 against Porto having netted five in three games for previous club Sporting Lisbon before his £29million deadline-day move as Leicester remain two points clear at the top of Group G as they made it successive Champions League wins following their opening victory at Club Brugge.

Son Heung-min bagged his fifth game in as many games saw Spurs get their campaign up and running with a 1-0 win over CSKA.

The South Korean's 71st-minute winner enabled Mauricio Pochettino's men a priceless three points at the newly-built CSKA Arena to move up to second up to in Group E and sit just a point behind leaders Monaco, who drew 1-1 at home to Bayer Leverkusen.

Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez looked to given the Bundesliga side their first in Group E after 76 minutes but Kamil Glik's dramatic last-minute equaliser ensured that Monaco remain top.

Leicester's group G counterparts FC Copenhagen earned their first win of the campaign after thrashing Club Brugge 4-0 thanks to an own goal from Stefano Denswil and goals from Thomas Delaney, Federico Santander and Mathias Joergensen. It could have been 5-0 but Ludwig Augustinsson missed a second-half penalty.

Andre Schurrle came off the bench to ensure Borussia Dortmund claimed a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid as Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 95th Champions League goal.

Ronaldo reached the landmark when his first-time effort beat Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki to give the visitors a 1-0 lead but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stabbed home from close range to level just before half-time.

Raphael Varane restored Real's advantage in the second half but substitute Schurrle's late strike three minutes from time saw both sides share the spoils and stay level on four points in Group F.

Goals from Bryan Ruiz and Bas Dost saw Sporting earn their first win with a 2-0 win over Legia Warsaw as they lie a point behind Dortmund and Real.

Juventus and Sevilla registered wins against Dinamo Zagreb and Lyon in Group H respectively

Miralem Pjanic starred in the Crotian capital as he opened the scoring before setting up Gonzalo Higuain to give Massimiliano Allegri's men a 2-0 lead. Pjanic hobbled off just after the restart before Paulo Dybala's 30-yard stunner stretched their advantage.

Dinamo goalkeeper Adrian Semper fumbled Dani Alves' late deflected effort into his own net as the Serie A champions ran out 4-0 winners.

Meanwhile, Wissam Ben Yedder's second-half header saw Sevilla earn a 1-0 victory over Lyon.

The Ligue 1 outfit will count themselves unlucky as they hit the woodwork twice, first through Nabil Fekir crashed an effort off the crossbar before Corentin Tolisso's curling effort hit the bar.

The hosts took the lead as Luciano Vietto nodded Steven N'Zonzi's long ball into the path of Ben Yedder before the former Toulouse striker headed home from close range.

Vietto missed the chance to put the game out of reach as he skied his penalty over the bar but Sevilla held on to claim all three points.
