Brooklyn Beckham has trial with Chelsea

David Beckham’s eldest son Brooklyn has had a trial with Chelsea, it is understood.

The 13-year-old trained at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground yesterday.

Former England captain Beckham is currently without a club after leaving Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the Major League Soccer season and was pictured on Twitter at the Blues’ Surrey training base.

His attendance for the under-14 fixture at the home of the 2011-2012 Champions League winners will undoubtedly lead to speculation Brooklyn Beckham is in line to follow in his father's footsteps to play football at the highest level.

Yet David Beckham and his wife Victoria, the Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer, would be reluctant to heap pressure on any of their four children.

The 37-year-old Londoner has enjoyed a successful career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and AC Milan, while also accumulating 115 England caps, a record for an outfield player.

Beckham also played a prominent role in the delegation sent to Singapore which helped to secure the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games for London.

It is still to be determined whether, and where, David Beckham will continue his own footballing career.
