Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni is expected to announce his starting line-up within the next hour for tomorrow's friendly with Greece at the Aviva.
Ciaran Clark , Robbie Brady and Wes Hoolohan are among those hoping to get starts, or at the very least some game time off the bench.
John O'Shea will captain the side while Wigan's James McCarthy is expected to start in midfield.
Hull defender Paul McShane has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad for tomorrow night’s friendly against Greece through injury.
McShane had a scan on a calf injury earlier in the week, but has been forced to admit defeat and has followed Stoke striker Jon Walters in heading home.
A spokesman for the Football Association of Ireland said: “Paul McShane has withdrawn from the squad to face Greece in Aviva Stadium tomorrow night due to a calf injury. He will return to his club later today for treatment. No replacement has been called up.”
Manchester United's Robbie Brady, who is currently on loan at Hull featured in the last two Word Cup qualifiers against Germany and the Faroe Islands hopes to further cement his place.
Brady said: "(Senior international football) is a lot different to playing U21s or playing for your club. Obviously it's a massive deal for me, it has always been my dream to play for Ireland.
"Now that it has come true it's just a case of getting my head around it so I can settle down and play my normal game.
"My first couple of games I think I did alright, but now I have settled in, hopefully I can let my hair down so that I can start playing better football."
