It is not the first time the publicity-hungry bookmaker has paid out early, in the 2005/2006 season they paid out in September - again on a José Mourinho-trained Chelsea team.
Fans of other teams with aspirations of the title can take hope in the knowledge that they have also paid out incorrectly in the past.
In 2002/2003 they paid out on Arsenal as champions when they built up a 12 point lead at the top of the table, only for Manchester United to overtake them and be crowned champions.
