Belgian media reports say Kevin de Bruyne facing a month out of action

Manchester City are facing the possibility of being without Kevin De Bruyne for the next month after the Belgian was injured towards the end of the Premier League win at Swansea.

The club are waiting to discover the full extent of the hamstring setback suffered by the midfielder, however he is expected to miss the Champions League game against Celtic in Glasgow on Wednesday night as well as Belgium's World Cup qualifiers over the international break.

Reports from Belgium on Sunday suggested De Bruyne had already been ruled out for around a month. Press Association Sport understands City are not expecting to have a full prognosis of De Bruyne's injury until Tuesday at the earliest.

A month-long absence would also see him miss games against Tottenham, Southampton and Everton in the Premier League, plus the Champions League trip to Barcelona on October 19.

De Bruyne helped City record what was a 10th straight victory of the new campaign as they came from behind to beat the Swans 3-1 with two goals from Sergio Aguero.

Speaking following the Swansea game, City boss Pep Guardiola said: "I think he is injured. We go back to Manchester tonight (Saturday), and he will be seen by a doctor tomorrow (Sunday). The way he reacted, it looked like muscular, but I am not a doctor."

De Bruyne stayed silent on his injury on Sunday, with his only Twitter message being one of support for the club's women's team, who won their league title.

"Congratulations to @ManCityWomen. Deserved champions" De Bruyne wrote.
