Sinclair misses pen on U21 City outing

Sinclair takes a spot-kick last season for Swansea

Scott Sinclair missed a penalty on his first outing in a Manchester City shirt as he was given a run out for their U21s side against Liverpool.

The winger, signed from Swansea last week in a deal reportedly worth up to £8m (€10m), hit a first-half spot-kick against the post at Kirkby before being taken off after the break.

England midfielder Gareth Barry also played most of the 2-2 draw as he continued his recovery from the abdominal injury which ruled him out of Euro 2012.

Sinclair otherwise had a promising game and his penalty blushes were spared when Jordi Hiwula struck from the rebound before Denis Suarez added a second from the spot.

The City goals came either side of Marc Pelosi efforts for the Reds.
