WATCH: Player sent off for vicious face stamp in Challenge Cup game

Hooker Matthew Rees was rightly sent off for this appalling foul play in a Challenge Cup game last night.

Rees was playing for Cardiff Blues against Harlequins and the incident happened late in the second half.

As a ruck formed, Rees found himself standing over Harlequins number eight Nick Easter, and brought his foot down on Easter’s face.

Easter was lucky to escape injury when Rees’s studs made clear contact with his eye.

The Cardiff Blues player can expect a lengthy ban in addition to the red card shown, with the reckless incident attracting immediate condemnation online.

Harlequins won the game 32-20.
