TV3 has confirmed it has won rights to broadcast the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The broadcaster says it has rights to 48 live games from the tournament which will be held in England.

It is understood that TV3 was able to divert funds it would otherwise have spent to secure rights to GAA Championship matches into its Rugby World Cup bid, after the GAA rights went to RTÉ and Sky.
