Showboating costs rugby player a certain try

Semi Kunatani thought he was home and dry during a Gold Coast Sevens match in Australia at the weekend.

The Fijian player had burst through the Scottish defence and there was no other player in sight as he ran between the posts.

Kunatani slowed to a jog crossing the line and was in no hurry to ground the ball, always a dangerous move.

Scotland’s Lee Jones hadn’t given up the chase and his crunching tackle sent the player and the ball flying.

Epic fail.

Luckily for Kunatani Fiji went on to win both the match and the tournament so his mistake was embarrassing, but not important.
