There was bad news for Irish rugby fans this morning, with Sean O’Brien one of three players ruled out of playing any further part in this year’s Six Nations.
O’Brien started against France last weekend but a hamstring injury meant he didn’t complete the game and he isn't expected to recover in time to play in Ireland's three remaining games.
Dave Kearney has also been ruled out thanks to a knock picked up against France - in his case a shoulder injury.
Meanwhile Mike McCarthy’s season is over as a result of the concussion sustained during the game.
Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt discussed the injuries at a press conference this morning and said that, after seeing a specialist, McCarthy would not play until next season.
