Canterbury and the IRFU have unveiled the new alternate kit for the 2016/17 season and it’s … different.
The press release tells us “the kit features a contemporary design with a range of innovative technologies developed to enhance performance on pitch.”

But they neglect to mention surely the most important fact about the jersey - it’s purple. Or is maroon more accurate? We’re really not sure.
Even Robbie Henshaw, brought out to model the new gear, looks a bit uncertain about the whole thing.
Unsurprisingly, there has been some resistance to an Irish jersey so lacking in the traditional colours of green and white.
