Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan says he expects Paul O'Connell to be back in action in time for Ireland's Six Nations clash with Scotland.
The Scottish game is the third in Ireland's campaign and takes place at the start of March in Croke Park.
O'Connell has been out of action for some time with a back injury.
Meanwhile, captain Brian O'Driscoll says Ireland are firmly aiming to win their first Six Nations championship since 1985, despite their poor World Cup performance.
