Munster’s Scottish trip moved out of Glasgow due to wet weather
Glasgow have been forced to move another match to Kilmarnock as the Scotstoun pitch continues to be badly affected by wet weather.
Warriors will face Munster in the Guinness Pro12 at Rugby Park on Friday, February 19, the game being moved from the Saturday because Killie host Dundee on that day.
Glasgow have already sold about 6,650 tickets for the league match.
Glasgow have not played or trained at Scotstoun for two months and Rugby Park recently hosted their Champions Cup clash with Racing 92.
Warriors managing director Nathan Bombrys said: “It’s really disappointing that we have to move another fixture away from our home at Scotstoun. We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption that this change will cause our supporters.
“Despite ongoing work being carried out on the pitch, the heavy storms continue to flood the pitch, and there is a high risk that it will be unplayable for this fixture.
“As Kilmarnock have a home game on the Saturday and we play the Dragons the following Thursday, our only option was to play the game on the Friday night. However, making an early decision to play this fixture at Rugby Park will hopefully help our supporters with their travel plans.
“We are working with Glasgow Life and Scottish Rugby to get the pitch at Scotstoun playable as soon as possible and we’re also in discussions with Glasgow Life, Scottish Athletics and SportScotland about a long-term solution at Scotstoun, which could involve a 3G pitch.”
