Jonathan Sexton will miss Leinster's Champions Cup trip to Northampton on Friday.
The out-half is still working through a hamstring injury suffered in the defeat to the All Blacks last month.
Leinster coach Stuart Lancaster says Sexton's recovery will take "weeks rather than months", with the number 10 shirt set to go to Joey Carbery instead.
"He's on a sort of rehab programme to get him back fully fit,” Lancaster said today. “It's not a serious injury but clearly there's been one or two hamstring injuries that have come along, one week here, one week there.
"So I think Ireland and Leinster have, correctly, made the right call, put the player at the centre and decided to get that sorted once and for all."
When asked when Sexton would return he said: "It is a wait and see but I think it's sooner rather than later. I don't think we're talking months by any stretch of the imagination.”
