Niamh Briggs, currently in France preparing for tonight’s World Cup semi-final, has been shortlisted for the IRB Women’s Player of the Year award.
Briggs, who plays club rugby with UL Bohemians and also plays for Munster, is one of four players on the shortlist for the award.
She has been one of the stand-out performers of the World Cup so far, and her dependable kicking has been one of the cornerstones of Ireland’s success.
Briggs is Ireland’s top scorer of the tournament so far, on 25 points, and starts this evening after being rested against Kazakhstan.
The other three nominees for the award are Safi N’Diaye of France and two Canadian players, Kelly Russell and Magali Harvey.
