Robert fined again by Magpies

29/06/2005 - 12:00:59
Departing Newcastle winger Laurent Robert has been fined two weeks’ wages for the second time in 24 hours after a fresh attack on manager Graeme Souness.

The 30-year-old Frenchman, who was hit with a similar penalty yesterday for a breach of club discipline following a newspaper broadside aimed at the Scot, received a second dose today over claims that England midfielder Jermaine Jenas is ready to quit Tyneside.

Furious chairman Freddy Shepherd has also reported the player, who is due to join Portsmouth on Friday, to the Football Association.

“He was warned not to do it and he must suffer the consequences,” Shepherd told the club’s official website, www.nufc.co.uk.

“We have also reported him to the Football Association and we are seeking guidance from them on any further action they may wish to take.”
