Rainfall sees Cork races abandoned
01/11/2009 - 10:38:34This afternoon's meeting at Cork has been cancelled due to waterlogging.
Course officials inspected the track at 7.30am due to an adverse forecast but substantial overnight rain left them with no choice.
"Cork has gone I'm afraid," said Cliff Noone, press officer for the Irish Turf Club.
"They had a lot of rain last night.
"The meeting has been cancelled and they may look to reschedule."
In addition the Suir Vale Harriers point-to-point at Templemore in County Tipperary has also been cancelled.
